Develop Young Athletes Through Sport

Align Everyone.
Develop Every Athlete.

The greatest barrier to athlete development isn’t talent.
It isn’t effort.

It’s what happens when athletes, parents, coaches, and sports leaders are pulling in different directions.

Exult gets everyone pulling together.

Exult’s
Athlete Development Compass

The Athlete Development Compass (ADC) shows how well your sports environment is helping young people develop—not just as athletes, but as teammates and human beings. It gathers perspectives from athletes, parents, coaches, and leaders to reveal where the “athlete support system” is aligned and where important gaps exist. It examines both the conditions adults create and the development happening in athletes as a result. The outcome is a clear picture of your strengths, blind spots, and highest-priority opportunities for development.

What the ADC Measures

  • Purpose & Leadership Alignment — Whether leaders, coaches, and families share a clear, athlete-centered definition of success.

  • Coaching & Learning — The quality of coaching, feedback, challenge, practice, and opportunities for growth.

  • Safety, Belonging & Motivation — Whether athletes feel safe, valued, included, motivated, and free to learn from mistakes.

  • Culture, Character & Connection — The quality of relationships, communication, teamwork, accountability, integrity, and parent partnership.

  • Whole-Athlete Development — Whether athletes are developing confidence, competence, resilience, self-regulation, independence, leadership, character, and a lasting love of sport.

One Philosophy.
One Framework.
One Shared Language.

Most sports organizations invest heavily in coaching.

Few invest in aligning everyone who shapes the athlete.

Exult creates shared understanding across every level of the organization so decisions become clearer, communication becomes stronger, and development becomes intentional.

Instead of leaders, coaches, parents, and athletes operating from different expectations, everyone gains a common framework for what great development looks like—and the role they play in creating it.

We align…

Leadership — around a clear philosophy of athlete development and the culture required to support it.

Coaches — around practices that build skill, confidence, character, motivation, and resilience.

Parents — around how to support development without adding unnecessary pressure, confusion, or conflict.

Athletes — around taking greater ownership of their growth, performance, relationships, and experience in sport.

The result is less friction and second-guessing, stronger relationships, clearer expectations, and greater consistency between what the organization believes and what athletes actually experience every day.

OUR MISSION

To align leadership, coaching, and parental support, in creating athlete-centric & high-performing environments that honor the competitive excellence and the mental, emotional, and social well-being of the athlete.

In 90 days, we achieve clarity, alignment, and progress that often takes years to achieve.

Our work creates small, intentional changes—made consistently—that can dramatically change an athlete's confidence, mindset, resilience, and performance.

The Exult 90-Day Development Sprint gives athletes and their parents a clear roadmap for growth, replacing uncertainty with direction and potential with purposeful action.

The 90-Day Development sprint

Every Great Journey Begins with Clarity

Before we coach, we assess.

Using our Athlete Development Compass, we identify where your athlete is thriving, where growth is needed, and what will create the greatest impact over the next 90 days.

Because athletes don't need more generic advice.

They need the right next step.

A Plan Everyone Believes In

Development accelerates when athletes and parents share the same vision.

Together, we review the assessment, identify key developmental priorities, and build a personalized growth plan that inspires commitment—not compliance.

Athletes leave with confidence.

Parents leave with clarity.

Everyone moves forward together.

Coaching That Changes More Than just Performance

Over three personalized coaching sessions, athletes learn practical skills they can immediately apply in practices, games, school, and life.

They develop greater ownership, emotional regulation, confidence, resilience, focus, and self-leadership.

At the close of each session, parents join the conversation to reinforce learning, celebrate progress, and stay aligned without taking over.

What our clients are saying

•

What our clients are saying •

  • “Michael is awesome. I feel as though he helped me solve some issues that I had been having for a long time. He is incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. He balances creating space for me to talk and process things myself with offering helpful strategies, tools, and perspective.”

    -NHL Goaltender

  • "Our work with Exult Sports and Dr. Michael has been truly exceptional, revolutionizing the outdated methodologies in youth sports. Through personalized sessions, he's not only elevated my son's performance but is reshaping the entire approach to youth sports psychology. A game-changer for both individual growth, on and off court, and the broader sports community!"

    -Toni Danielson

  • “Dr. McElhenie, simply put, is excellent. He's a total professional who has the experience to speak confidently about his domain, but also approached my case with a level of thoughtfulness and individuality that made me feel like his most important client. We were able to quickly pick up where we had left off each session because he really listens and cares, and his easy-going nature makes it easy to begin a conversation. I'd strongly recommend Dr. McElhenie to anyone.”

    -D1 College Basketball Player"

  • “Our 14U hockey goalie has been working with Greg and Mike for about 2 years now. Not only has Exult taught our son to manage the stresses and the very specific mental aspects of being a goalie, but he has also been given the tools to apply these skills to school, and life in general as it pertains to a 14-year-old. Growing up as an aspiring tennis player, I wish these resources had been available to me.”
